Things that nullifies one from Islam ( PART-1)

February 20, 2013

As-salamualaikum,

Any kind of error in the post, whether grammatical or something else is from me. And anything good said here is from Allah.

Having said that i tried my best to take the reference from good source and from statements of good sheiks. So feel free to ask for reference if you

need. I would be happy to give.

I will start this post with a Hadith :

Narrated by Muslim, 2749. And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Every son of Adam sins, and the best of those who sin are those who repent.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2499; classed as hasan by al-Albaani.

From the above verse we can see that it is human’s tendency to sin.

So what does Allah swt have to say about the sins :

Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin. ( 4:48 )

From the above verse we can see that Allah may forgive all sins to whom He pleases ( though that shouldn’t give us the right to commit sins)

but He wont ever forgive someone doing shirk.

So there are certain conditions in being a muslim.

Prophet sm didnt started telling people to start praying or stop drinking alchohol. Because that is not how dawah works.

If he had told the people to stop drinking alchohol then they would have probably never stopped.

His first dawah was calling people to Allah. That is the belief “La ilaha illaha”/ There is no God except Allah.

But just saying La Ilaha Illah, wont make one a Muslim. One has to honor this verse.

One must make sure that they are meaning what they are saying and they are acting according to it.

So to consider oneself as Muslim one must be careful of some points.

If one is not careful then all the good things one does may all go to waste.

Which brings to the first point that Nullifies Islam or one can say takes one away from Islam.

And makes one non-Muslim from being a Muslim, even if one claims to be a Muslim.

First point which takes one away from Islam  :

Shirk (associating partners) in the worship of Allaah. Allaah
says: “Verily, Allaah does not forgive that partners be associated
with Him in worship (Shirk), but He forgives what is less than that
to whom He wills.” [Surah An-Nisaa: 116]

And He says: “Verily, the one who mixes partners in worship with
Allaah (Shirk), then Paradise has been made forbidden for him and
his final abode will be the Hellfire. And the wrongdoers will not
have any helpers (in Hell).” [Surah Al-Maa’idah: 72]

This suggests that we are not allowed to take partners beside Allah. It may sound quite simple and people may think, it can be very easily be

avoided but irony is many people are doing this type of shirk. Some are doing without realizing it and others are even going as far as

to explain them using their own interpretation of quran and sunnah.

For example :  Supplicating and invoking the deceased,
seeking assistance from them, as well as making oaths to them and
offering sacrificial animals to them.

Many Muslims are going to the graveyards of what they claim are of religious and highly spiritual people. Well they may be spiritual but invoking to them is Shirk. Many Muslims give sujood to their graves. And some write messages in a paper and leaves their with belief that the deceased person has the ability to transfer this message to Allah.

This is a great calamity among many of the Muslims. And we must avoid it at all cost and educate the people who don’t know it.

As if they continue doing that then all their good deeds will be lost because they are doing shirk.

If  one  have anything to ask to Allah swt, then directly ask Him.

Don’t associate partners to Allah even sub-consciously by going to graveyards and invoking.

So brothers and sisters kindly be careful of this point.

May this post help my dear Muslim brothers and sisters. And anyone and everyone who is reading it with the sincerity to gain knowledge.

Thank you for reading.
